- Cook Time:
Ingredients
- (1 Cup) Hot water (110-115°F)
- (2-1/4 tsp (1 packet)) Instant Yeast
- (1 tsp) Olive Oil
- (1/2 tsp) Salt
- (1 Tbsp (optional)) Ground Flax Seed
- (1 Cup) Organic Whole Wheat Flour
- (1-1/2 — 2 Cups) Organic General Purpose Flour
Directions
Dough
Dissolve the yeast in the hot water, let set about 5 minutes.
Add the yeast water, as well as the olive oil, salt, ground flax, and the whole wheat flour into your mixing bowl. If using a stand mixer use your dough hook.
Start mixing slowly to begin to combine your ingredients.
Once it starts to come together slowly add in the rest of your flour in a 1/2 cup at a time. mixing the flour in well each time.
Once you add all your flour in mix on low-medium speed for about 5 minutes, the dough should be smooth not wet.
Grease a bowl and lid well (we use pork lard). Transfer your dough into the greased bowl and let sit in a warm place to rise for about an hour or until doubled.
NOTE: It will rise faster the warmer it is.
Once your dough has doubled in size grease your pizza pans. You can make one thick crust pizza or 2 thin crusts depending on what you prefer.
Cover with a towel and let rise for another hour.
Preheat your oven to 425°F
Ready to make your pizzas add your pizza sauce toppings and cheese and bake at 425°F for ~15 minutes.
Want to make your pizzas later bake at 425°F for 5-10 minutes (this stops the pizzas from continuing to rise) Once they are cooled you can wrap them in plastic wrap and foil and throw in the freezer till your ready.
